The Dance Theatre of Harlem performs two powerful works alongside the Naples Philharmonic with Radu Paponiu, conductor. First is a piece titled New Bach, a supreme expression of post-modern-urban neoclassicism and a tribute to George Balanchine’s neoclassical ballet. Then, the company will present Dancing on the Front Porch of Heaven, choreographed by Ulysses Dove for the Royal Swedish Ballet in 1993. Dove’s spare but demanding choreography invites dancer and viewer alike to live in each moment as if it were their last.
